The Rosé Wine and Spirit Challenge 2025
Celebrates Excellence in Pink Wines and Spirits.
Stellenbosch, 21 August 2025 — The 2025 Rosé Wine and Spirit Challenge, now in its fourth year, took place at the iconic Lanzerac Hotel, celebrating the elegance, diversity, and world-class quality of rosé wines, Blanc de Noir wines, sparkling rosés, Cap Classique wines, and pink spirits.
The competition is unique in that it exclusively honours pink drinks — from still wines to sparkling and spirits — showcasing their sophistication and giving them the spotlight they deserve in the global drinks landscape. Rosé and Blanc de Noir wines, in particular, continue to surge in popularity, with growth outpacing many other wine styles across international markets.
The judging panel — Dr Jonathan Steyn, Sommelier Joseph Tongai Dhafana, CWM René Groenewald, and CWM Marlee Malan — praised the calibre of entries, highlighting the complexity, balance, and creativity shown across all categories. From refined still wines to elegant Cap Classiques and pioneering pink gins, the results confirmed that pink drinks stand among the most dynamic and exciting categories in the world today.
Rosé is no longer a niche style — it is one of the most innovative and fastest-growing categories in the global wine and spirits scene. This competition provides a dedicated platform to honour the producers who are redefining what rosé and pink spirits can be.
